The Cheshire Food Drive will again participate in the Give Local Campaign on April 25 and 26, 2017. To donate to the Food Drive, please visit: https://givelocalccf.org/npo/cheshire-food-drive.

Information about the Give Local Campaign:

“Hosted by Connecticut Community Foundation and sponsored by Ion Bank Foundation for the fifth consecutive year, Give Local Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills benefits the vital work of 240 nonprofit organizations in our region. This fun and inspiring 36-hour online give-a-thon unites donors, businesses, and organizations in giving back to the communities where we live, work and play. During the event, every dollar donated is stretched with bonus funds provided by Connecticut Community Foundation and generous sponsors, adding excitement and incentives while raising essential funds for the work of local nonprofits.

Beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25, you can contribute to your favorite nonprofits on this website and watch the leaderboard in real time as the donations come in from across the region and beyond! The event ends at 7 p.m. on April 26.

Advanced giving option: Donors wishing to give their gifts in advance may do so and those gifts will be processed immediately. Advanced gifts will appear on the leaderboard in the overnight hours of April 25-26. Prescheduled gifts are not factored into helping nonprofits win time-specific prizes.

Connecticut Community Foundation and participating nonprofits will be providing updates throughout 36-hour event on social media, using hashtag #GiveLocalGWLH. Follow us and spread the word!”

Information about the Food Drive:
“Now in our 43nd year, the non-profit Cheshire Food Drive continues to be the sole financial support of the town’s emergency Food Voucher Program, which distributes more than 700 food vouchers yearly. Vouchers are valued at $40, $60 for families of four or more, and are redeemable at the Stop and Shop or Big Y stores in Cheshire. Please help us to provide unrestricted food assistance to families in need of short-term help. We also sponsor food collections at schools and local businesses, culminating in our November town-wide drive on the First Congregational Church Green that benefits area pantries.”
